you would die from an attack the next turn if in melee range from using dagger) or you get suitable skills. Sadly, bows do basically 0 damage this early (especially when enemies in your very first battle tend to have some armor already) so stick to using the dagger from greyplane unless bow is necessary for some reason (e.g. Hunters are your main damage source in the early chapters. Offhand: +2 warding item (this is actually insane value) or shield Secondary weapons: Your choice, I prefer Spears/Greatspears Preferred weapons: Axes (armor shred is SUPER valuable) Things to avoid on warriors (almost) always: Raider, Stalwart+, Sentinel, Bloodrage Things to avoid on warriors early (but that could be good later): Broadswipes, Untouchable, Vigilance. Obviously if you're not given any of these options, pick the next best early game damage ones (Viciousness+/Shieldshear/Battledance). Instead, invest them into tankier setups (Stalwart/Endurance+) that have some mobility (Zealous Leap+) and supportive functions (Inspiration/Wolfcall+). I typically don't go damage-heavy warriors unless I roll a legacy hero that already has the setup required, as new heroes take way too long to become useful damage warriors. Since Chapter 1-2 are so difficult, your primary goal is to increase your early game damage/tanking. The hardest part of Walking Lunch is Chapter 1-2. Originally posted by Tragopan:Any Walking Lunch veterans have some tips? :) But like XCOM too, it makes sense to know your enemy and weapons first so you know the most efficient and effective order for you which facility to build and expand, and which research to focus on (lasers - who need lasers when they can get plasma stuff by capturing muton, aye?) In general an XCOM mindset should work here, since I compared it to XCOM as well in my review. That leaves only the option of creating chokepoints whenever possible with tanky warrior or hunter, or the option of kill on first turn whenever possible. The biggest obstacle I found for myself is the amount of enemies. I am not sure what you mean by 5 story chapters, but I personally find the 3 chapter generic campaign much harder than a story campaign. Though for all that to get a proper idea which weapon fits which situation best I recommend to enjoy all campaigns on adventure mode or at least tragic hero first. I am saving up lots of legacy points to buy better gear by ignoring calamities which I do not expect to bother me - as in: main enemy Morthagi - cancel Morthagi cards - calamities of other enemies got ignored as many as possible.Īside of that it is basics what I do. My personal tip which is often forgotten or ignored by others: calamity management. (like: I really should stick to poison instead of thinking fighting the boss head to head is a good idea). Usually the final battle gets me down by questionable decisions of mine. But so far I have not managed walking lunch + carved stone. When I switched from adventure mode to walking lunch I was very satisfied, since it definitely gave me new content, new events to see. Every new story campaign offers certain mechanics which seem even hard on adventure mode when you encounter them for the very first time. I personally suggest to get comfortable with the whole game first. Fast deployed stuff, crowd control, lots of walling and retreating tiles during my battles. I personally am a very careful player, moving rather slowly and relying on traps and poison. You will read very different opinions and tips, based on each player's preferred gameplay. Didn't think I would do -this- poorly.Īny Walking Lunch veterans have some tips? :) I should also mention that my first attempt at Walking Lunch was after doing the 5 Story chapters on Adventurer. cover doesn't seem to help enough, walling definitely doesn't help enough, and the heroes may as well be naked because whatever armor they have gets shredded before they get clonked by that 6 damage mob. I don't know if it is a matter of gear, skills or the actions I am choosing to take but I come from the X-COM Longwar school of thought - advance slowly, in cover, with massive overwatch. My biggest issue does seem to be with the battles themselves. The enemies are quite strong and my own units are taking a long time to level/get gear for. The calamities are piling up and I struggle on the battle map, usually losing someone every fight. in the beginning chapter but always lose control in the final fight. I love to beat myself up with the hardest difficulty and Ironman in most games and Wildermyth is no exception! However, I am struggling.
